CCM artist Matthew West ‘s video about the true meaning of Christmas features footage from Operation Christmas Child shoe box distributions and Big Idea’s new Christmas DVD, “Saint Nicholas-A Story of Joyful Giving,” to be released in early October. This music video, as well as custom animation featuring Larry the Cucumber packing a shoe box gift, can be found on this new DVD from VeggieTales.

Upcoming Event Looking for Girl Scout Volunteers

Greetings Operation Christmas Child Donors and Volunteers,

I pray you are doing well and enjoying this warm fall weather. We are so excited to see what God is going to do in the Twin Cities this year through Operation Christmas Child. We have been working hard to get the Veggie Tale Premiere’s off the ground and for the Count Down Event happening on Sept 26th. We need your help on a few things;

First we are looking for Girl Scout troops who would be willing to serve at Maplewood, Rogers, and Grace Fellowship the night of the Veggie Tale Premiere Sept 25th. We would like the Girl Scouts to greet people coming in, do a skit that is already written and is very easy, and then pass out shoe boxes and brochures at the end of the movie. If you know of a Girl Scout troop that would be willing to help……..please call Annette Peterson 651-653-7433 or email annsova@usfamily.net or Sheri Wood 651-407-7060 jscbk@aol.com asap. A free patch is available to Girl Scouts who do a service project and fill a shoe box. Go to www.occtc.org for more information.

This year we are blessed to be partnering with Schuler Shoes and Minnetonka Moccasins. Both companies have been saving their empty shoe boxes for us and have about 4000 shoe boxes saved. The empty shoe boxes are all packed into cartons. The Minnetonka Moccasin shoe boxes are white and could be easily colored by children as a service art project and then passed out to your church or group to fill. They are regular standard size shoe boxes and are nested in the cartons with as many as 50 per carton. I will be giving these shoe boxes out just down from Schuler Shoes at 10150 Hudson Rd, Woodbury ( the bay is just south of the Dollar Store just down from Schuler Shoes) on Sept 17th from 4-7pm and Sept 22 from 11-1pm. I will also have brochures available. Come and be “green” as we save the environment and spread the hope of Jesus to the needy children of the world!

We are looking for hotel sized bars of soap. If you know where we might be able to order these or get these donated please call 651-407-7060 or email Sheri at jscbk@aol.com

Please join us as we pray that God will bring in a bounty of shoe boxes during National Collection week November 16-23 in the Twin Cities.
